The ten fastest GrassPass karts and 17 fastest GrassPass drivers in N.E. Ohio came to compete as teams and as ironmen single drivers! Single driver karts consisting of winner of the G.P. Heavy class #44 Jon Kick, the Stars and Stripes G.P. Heavy winner #77 Sean Peterson and our only Wildcat Class competitor #99, 9 year AJ Peterson had the task of being the ironman drivers with no relief from teammates. With the LeMans start shortly after 8:00pm the 10 karts made history at Bainbridge Speedway! 92 miles completed!!

With a slow start and a spin in the first turn the race began to take form and the drivers began to settle in to which would a long night of racing. In the first hour of racing the #78 of Belconis/Segot, #15 Waibel/Sunderlin and #99 of Sunderlin/Phillips were in contention for the G.P lite lead and the #77 Sean Petersen, # 44 Jon Kick, #88 Martino/Belconis and #17 Hiller competing for the lead in the G.P. Heavy class. But after a round of strategic pit stops the #15 kart of the G.P. Lites and the #44 of Jon Kick for the Heavys were in the lead. Without looking back the #15 kart became stronger and stronger as the race went on with the fastest lap of the night, 23.792! The #44 of Jon Kick stayed consistent through out the night and found himself winning the G.P Heavy class and third overall! Jon's win put an end to a long drought after dominating the 2009 indoor series. Second place went to the #78 kart with Jen Belconis and new comer and first time driver Steve Segot, But the night belong to the #15 of Paul Waibel and Bill Sunderlin finishing first and 4 laps ahead of second place kart.

Thank you to all who made this happen on Saturday! Corner workers, sponsors and the karters themselves!

Winning the G.P Lite is a regular karter to the club Jessica Sunderlin and winning the G.P Heavy class is new comer Jon Kick! Both classes came down to the last night of racing at Winwood Farm in Bainbridge, Ohio! With a competitive field of 9 karts starting the last two races of the indoor series Saturday night, all 9 karts were with in .8 of a second of one another after qualifying! Both classes were up for grabs and the pressure was on.
After a 5:30 pm tech inspection of all the karts the first practice began. The racers were very aware of everyone's lap times, the timing table was never vacant of a driver. With the first race starting shortly after 7:30 pm the difference between P1 and P9 were .8 of a second! With the first race won by Jessica Sunderlin and the second race won by Paul Waibel, the points were tallied and the champs were crowned!
I would like to thank all of our Sponsors; The Ramble Inn, Cornwell Tools, Matco Tools, Chagrin Valley Paving, Corrigan Trailer Sales and Granx Industries! Also WinWood Farm for allowing us to race there this winter! I would also like to thank all of the helpers we had at the track!
Now we turn our attention to the outdoor series going to start in mid to end of May.

The fastest back yard karters in the country gathered Sunday night July 20th. Ten karts with 2 driver teams made the field for the event. After an inverted field from qualifying, the karts rolled off a little after 10pm. With the green flag waving , from our official Bill Sunderlin, the first turn was exciting and anxious from the karters. After the field thinned out, the #8 kart of Jennifer Belconis and Trevor Hilliar, owner of Tkarts and the Grasspass organization, went to the lead with a furious pace! The #15 kart with local driver Paul Waibel and laura Steffee, of Wellington Fl., began to make there move to the front. After the first round of pit stops, aided with the new addition of the AMB Timing System, the battle really came down to between three karts, # 88T of Mark Martino and co-driver Brett Loving, of Arizona, # 99 of Jessica Sunderlin and co-driver Evan Jewel, of Pennsylvania and # 8 of Belconis and Hilliar, of Essex Ct. With the 88T being a half a lap down the battle between the 99 and 8 was on. Nose to tail and side pod to side pod racing was at every corner and every straight away! The two karts were with in less than .1 of a second of each other! The racing continued between the two karts for more than 45 minutes! Coming close to the finish of the two hour enduro we had a computer malfunction, the malfunction created a RED flag situation. After figuring out the problem the field was set for a 20 minute shoot out to the finish, in which brought the top 4 karts back to the lead lap. The shoot out once again included the #8,#99,#88T and #15 all nose to tail. With a spindle bearing letting loose on the#15 kart, the battle was between the other three. After good hard racing it came down to the #8 and #99 for the win. With less than one lap to go the#99 slipped passed the #8 on the inside and continued to the win. What an event!!

I would just like to thank everyone who made this happen, all those who participated in both a kart or being a corner worker! It was probably some of the best racing that I have ever competed in and watched! Hopefully we can host another event soon before the snow files.
